Newhall is one of the most historic and distinctive communities in the Santa Clarita Valley, offering a unique blend of established neighborhoods, sprawling ranch-style properties, hillside homes, charming older residences and newer housing options.
Having lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1981 and selling real estate since 1996, I have watched Newhall evolve while still holding onto much of the character that makes it special. Unlike some of Santa Clarita’s newer master-planned communities, Newhall offers a tremendous variety of homes and neighborhoods, from charming streets lined with mature trees to larger ranch-style properties with more space, longer driveways and generous lots.
One of Newhall’s biggest draws is Old Town Newhall, the historic heart of the Santa Clarita Valley and the City’s Arts and Entertainment District. Main Street offers a mix of local restaurants, shopping, entertainment, community events and historic character, including the Walk of Western Stars and The MAIN, a local venue for theater, music, comedy and the arts.
Newhall also has a rich history dating back to the 1800s and is considered the historic core of Santa Clarita. That history can still be felt throughout Old Town and in some of the area’s older neighborhoods, giving Newhall a personality that is very different from many other parts of the valley.
One of the things I especially appreciate about Newhall is the variety of properties. Depending on the neighborhood, buyers may find single-story ranch homes, larger lots, equestrian-style settings, hillside properties, condominiums, townhomes and traditional single-family homes. Some areas have a more rural and spacious feel, while others are just minutes from shopping, restaurants and the activity of Old Town Newhall.
Newhall’s location is another major advantage. With convenient access to Interstate 5 and Highway 14, it can be especially appealing for buyers who commute toward the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles or other parts of Southern California while still wanting to call the Santa Clarita Valley home.
